CASA DI VITA
MASTERCLASS WITH OLIVIERO TOSCANI
What are 20 international contemporary artists doing in a Palladio villa in the Treviso hills for a week?
This is what the participants in Oliviero Toscani’s Photo Masterclass will have to discover, observe, analyze, frame and finally document.
The aim of the workshop, open to photographers and video-makers, is to portray the various stages of the set-up of “Casa di vita”, a contemporary environmental art exhibition to be held from 15 June to 15 September 2019 at Villa di Maser (Treviso, Italy), a masterpiece created in 1550 by Andrea Palladio, with frescoes by Paolo Veronese.
With the creative direction of Oliviero Toscani and the Fabrica team, reporters will work closely with the artists, documenting the backstage and the works through their own eyes. The photographs will then be published in the exhibition catalog. A video will also be produced.
Duration: 10-14 June 2019, 5 days
Location: Villa di Maser (TV)
Cost: € 250.00, VAT included (the cost does not include travel, accommodation or other expenses)
To participate in the selection, send your application (CV, motivation letter and portfolio with a maximum of 10 images and/or REEL) to firstname.lastname@example.org by 31 May 2019.
CASA DI VITA – NOTE ON THE EXHIBITION
For the first time, 20 national and international artists will interpret the Palladian miracle in contemporary art forms. The exhibition will also highlight the relationship between architecture and territory, in synergy with a study/research conducted by the IUAV Faculty of Architecture in Venice.
The materials used for the works will be the most varied and will be inspired by ecological themes. For example, the recovery of trees and branches cut down by the wind storm in the Cansiglio Forest or the importance of protecting bees and their hives. In the interior space, the juxtaposition with the frescoes by Paolo Veronese will create a relationship between contemporary art, often conceptual, and Renaissance painting. The splendid nymphaeum of the Villa will host a WATER ART work and a labyrinth with led lights in the back arc.
“Casa di Vita” is created by the cultural association ARTLIFE for the World, curated by Simonetta Gorreri.
