F AWARD
Jessica Dimmock, New York
The F Award was a remarkable gift. It gave me the opportunity to devote myself to the completion of a long term project that I otherwise may have ended. It also gave me the creative space and support to work on the story and to allow more important aspects to develop. I am so grateful for all that has come out of it - the time it gave me to finish the work, the publication of a book, and an exhibition were all possible because of this award.
Jessica Dimmock
The ninth floor is just like any other floor in a Manhattan building, but in this case it is the apartment where a group of addicts buy and sell drugs, sleep, argue, make love and fight. For almost three years Jessica Dimmock followed the stories of the ninth floor and of its residents. Many have photographed the tragedy of the world of drugs, but the strength of these images gives a new and extraordinary account, both intimate and raw.
The Ninth Floor is both an exhibition presented at FORMA International Center of Photography (Milan, September-October 2007) and a book published by Contrasto.
Jessica Dimmock, 28, lives in New York. She graduated in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism atThe International Center of Photography. Her work was published in Aperture, The New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, Time, Fortune, New York Magazine and Fade.
