Franco Fontana

Color and creativity

18 April 2018

Where there is evolution, there is growth, and in this growth one can find his own identity and conquer the freedom to express oneself as “an author”. In this workshop, Franco Fontana invites the participants to develop their individual creativity. The workshop will be a true experience, an opportunity to testify one’s own sensibility, made up of emotions, invention, fantasy, versatility. An adventurous way of thinking, which breaks rules, because creative photography must not reproduce what is visible, but has to make visible its “invisible”, removing memories and exploring uncultivated paths. Why “color”? Because colors are also a physiological sensation, a psychological and emotional interpretation, color is a way and means of knowledge, and for this reason they are something essential, especially in photography.

Franco Fontana was born in 1933 and started to take photos in 1961. His first personal show was in 1968 and this marks a crucial turning point in his research. He’s published over 60 books in different Italian, Japanese, French, German, Swiss, US and Spanish editions. His works have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, in over 400 personal and group exhibitions, and are represented in more than 50 museum collections.

Treviso is a medieval city in the Veneto countryside, about 30 kilometers (less than 20 miles) from Venice. It is a jewel of a city with its ancient buildings, narrow streets, and canals. Dante mentions Treviso in the Divine Comedy. The old town center is small and accessible, a place to breathe in the “dolce vita” atmosphere while sitting at cafés crowding the lively, bustling squares.
