The two interactive art installations Venetian Mirror and Exquisite Clock have been selected by the V&A to be part of the exhibition "Decode: Digital Design Sensations", from 8 December 2009 to 11 April 2010. Decode is a major survey of the best contemporary digital art and design from around the world.
Venetian Mirror is a digital mirror which distorts our sense of time and in which the viewer sees an image of their body reflected - but only if they keep still. This work reflects images, like a mirror, but represents time, like a clock. It stages time as an experience, and puts the spectator at the heart of this experience of time.
Venetian Mirror is by Andy Cameron and Sam Baron with Oriol Ferrer Mesia, Goncalo Campos and Dave Towey.
Exquisite Clock is a clock made of numbers taken from everyday life - seen, captured and uploaded by people from all over the world. Built around an online database, the clock exists as a web 2.0 website, an iPhone application and as a series of site specific installations. The project connects time, play and visual aesthetics. It's about creativity, collaboration and exchange.
Exquisite Clock is by Joao Wilbert. iPhone application is by Steven Baughman.
