Alexis Gallo comes from New York and has recently joined our Design Team.
We have asked her a few questions to know her better. Welcome at Fabrica, Alexis!
Can you describe in no more than 30 words who you are and what you do?
Hello! I’m a graphic designer from New York. I graduated from FIT with a BFA in Graphic Design and have been working in New York since, most recently at Lassie Collective.
What do you expect from your year at Fabrica?
I am hoping to refine my design skills and develop new ways to approach my work.
What inspires you most?
For me, leaving my comfort zone and having new experiences is the best way to fuel creativity. It can be as simple as taking a different way home or brushing my teeth with the opposite hand, anything that causes my brain to change gears for a moment might spark a new connection.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Have confidence in your work. If you don’t trust what you’ve created, why should someone else? With that being said, it is also important to be able to take criticism and use it to strengthen your work.
What do you miss of your home and what do you like of Italy?
Treviso is a huge change from New York. I miss my friends and family of course but I also really miss Seamless and 24 hour shops. Having everything so easily accessible at any hour of the day has spoiled me a bit. I love trying to speak Italian. It’s challenging because I’m not very good at all but people are usually patient enough to chat with me for a little so I can practice.
