Drew is a young photographer from the US who’s joined our Editorial team since a couple of months. In the interview below, you can read what goal Drew has in mind for his residency, and learn more about him. Enjoy!
Can you describe in no more than 30 words who you are and what you do?
My name is Drew Nikonowicz, and I’m a photographer. When I’m without my camera, I also enjoy building things – everything from cameras to sculptures to little useful bits and pieces.
What do you expect from your time at Fabrica?
My goal is 52 great photographs. One for each week. Otherwise, good adventures with good friends will do.
What inspires you most?
When my friends and colleagues are killing it, it really lights a fire under me. I’m most motivated to make work when I feel the pressure of great work being made around me.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Start yesterday”. Joe Johnson
What do you miss of your home and what do you like of Italy?
Surprisingly I miss the food. I also miss being fluent in the official language of the country I inhabit. The people here, friends and strangers alike, are incredibly friendly and patient which is super helpful for me.
