Meet a Fabricante #28 – Ainhoa Garmendia

07 February 2017

Ainhoa is a young designer from Spain, eager to get the best her time at Fabrica. Though she misses the sea of her home town, in Italy she feels fine and enjoys trying to communicate with local people!

Can you describe in no more than 30 words who you are and what you do?
I’m a product design engineer from San Sebastian. I like searching for stories to tell through objetcs, and creating awareness regarding sustainability. I love cycling, doing photosynthesis and eating paella.

What do you expect from your time at Fabrica?
Here I feel as a sponge, willing to broaden with the unexpected. I want to collaborate with different people to develop projects together and learn from their passions and backgrounds.

What inspires you most?
Discovering new topics and having conversations with people around me, being open minded to listen to others and making lots of questions. And also sea + bike + sun + music = !!!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Change your mind and you will change your world”. Because you are the only one who can make it happen.

What do you miss of your home and what do you like of Italy?
San Sebastian is surrounded by the sea. I miss looking into the infinite horizon, feeling the movement of the waves in the air. I also miss that I cannot speak in Basque here, my other mother tongue. Here in Italy, I feel that I travelled in time to the past. I like its architecture,
full of stories. People are very helpful and funny when I try to communicate with them in Spanish and we manage to understand each other!
