On February 17 Fabrica will premiere for Italy Tériade, the documentary of the Greek director that delves into the legacy of the renowned art critic, patron and publisher Stratis Eleftheriadis-Tériade (Lesvos 1897-Paris 1983).
The film examines Tériade’s editorial activities including the art magazines Verve, Cahiers d’Art and Minotaure and sheds light on his story of promoting the Greek naive painter Theophilos. It also examines Tériade’s relationship with his artistic collaborators and friends such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti, Le Corbusier, Odysseas Elytis and Henri Cartier-Bresson among others. Honoured by the French Academy as Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, Tériade was the founder of two museums in Lesvos island: Theophilos Museum and Museum-Library Tériade that we explore in the last part of the documentary.
The film has been screened in the 18th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art among others and thanks to Fabrica researcher Nicolas Vamvouklis now premiered in Italy.
