Presentation of the magazine’s latest issue “Money” , a photo workshop and an exhibition on magazine form, concept and design.
Johannesburg, 24 April 2008. Colors Magazine has been invited by the Market Theatre’s Photo Workshop to present the latest issue “Money”. An international magazine well-known for its inventive approach to photography, design and creative writing, the Colors editorial team will also open an exhibition featuring issue n° 73 and deliver a lecture on the diverse approaches to magazine form, concept and design. Sponsored by the Market Photo Workshop and Fabrica, the Benetton group’s communication research centre where Colors is produced, the event is intended to provide insight into the creation, formation and editing of a concept-based magazine.
About Colors and Fabrica
Established in 1991 under the leadership of Tibor Kalman and Oliviero Toscani, Colors is a quarterly magazine sold in over 40 countries and published in four languages. Using conceptual design, visual language, and creative writing, Colors' themes range between the serious, such as ecology, violence, monoculture and HIV to the outright frivolous, such as shopping, fashion, and toys. Colors has been described as one of the 51 best magazines of all times (Good Magazine), one of the trendiest cultural magazines on the world scene (La Vanguardia) and was recently featured in Inside the great magazines, a trilogy exploring the influence of magazines on our social, political and cultural identities. Colors magazine is part of the publishing activities of Fabrica, Benetton’s communication research centre, where young artists and researchers from various countries and cultures are invited to develop communication projects in fields of design, music, video, photography, publishing and new media. www.colorsmagazine.com www.fabrica.it

About the Market Photo Workshop
The Market Photo Workshop trains over 100 students a year, ensuring that students learn in a culture of critical thinking about what images mean and the role photography plays socially. One of the primary aims of the Market Photo Workshop is to promote links with photographers, other institutions and the wider community, both close to home and internationally, through its various interventions and projects. These various endeavours have enabled the Market Photo Workshop to establish new voices in South African photography, including seven time World Press Winner Jodi Bieber, other World Press winners like Themba Hadebe and Sydney Seshibedi, and internationally acclaimed photographers such as Nontsikelelo Veleko and Zanele Muholi. www.marketphotoworkshop.co.za
