DRUMMATURGO the new Fabrica CD

DRUMMATURGO is the latest musical offering from FABRICA, Benetton Group's communication research centre. It is the fruit of creative research by young Italian drummer Geremia Vinattieri.

Fabrica has always been a place for experimentation, confrontation and cultural growth, attentive to the free expression of every form of art; it has offered this young musician fertile ground to compose his music, unbound by musical ties and above all, free to cross the fine line that divides the immanent from the transcendent.

"The Gods were rhythm and melody, because the origin lies in sound, a vibration.” This quotation from Marius Schneider, the twentieth century author and musicologist, taken from his book Primitive Music, perfectly describes the concept that inspired the young composer in his début album.

The title DRUMMATURGO plays on the assonance between the nouns “drum” and “drama”– and like a knowing dramatist, Geremia Vinattieri has woven a narrative filled with rhythmic ecstasy, in which the frenetic frequency of the drums and percussion blends with the warm sounds of the guitar and violin.

DRUMMATURGO highlights the relationship that exists between musical folklore and 'high-culture' music, between the traditions of areas outside Europe and the models and codes typical of western music. A particularly remarkable performance can be enjoyed from the Iranian vocalist Mohsen Namjoo, in the final track on the album, “Hymn to the Sun”.

DRUMMATURGO is a spiritual journey that seeks to evoke memories of other times, and sensations from beyond this world.
