Tuesday 23 April at 7pm CEST Angela Melitopoulos will be at Fabrica for a conference open to the public in which she will present her work as a film director and multimedia artist.
Graduated from the Nam June Paik Art Academy in Düsseldorf, from the Academy of Multimedia Arts in Cologne and with a P.hd in Visual Cultures, she has been making videos, multi-screen installations, documentaries and musical pieces since 1985. She was selected for an art residency at Fabrica in 1995.
In 2023 the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid hosted a retrospective of her work.
During the conference, entitled CINE(SO)MATIC CARTOGRAPHIES, Angela Melitopoulos will discuss how her audiovisual artistic research projects can create a kind of multi-folded storytelling work questioning the way in which we conceive and experience relationships with geography, or better with something that is in-between geography, social organization and mind-set.
Angela Melitopoulos’ conference is part of the “Kinship” residency program curated by Carlos Casas.
