Nicol Vizioli / On work

On Friday, 23 June Nicol Vizioli, visual artist, will be at Fabrica for a workshop, as part of the “Archaism” residency program curated by Carlos Casas.

Nicol Vizioli works primarily with photography and, more recently, film. Trained in fine arts and cinema in Rome and photography at University of The Arts London, her practice is underlined by a significant devotion to raw physicality, incorporating representational and symbolic motifs, mythology, painting and manifesting a deep connection with the natural and animal world. With the same principles, Vizioli also explores different media, currently combining her studio work with film projects and sculpture.

Recent commissions include the London Contemporary Orchestra, Akram Khan Company, South London Gallery and Kew Botanical Gardens. Her work has been exhibited in several international galleries and art fairs such as Scope Basel (CH), Somerset House (London, UK), the Zabludowicz Collection (London, UK), The XV Biennale de la Mediterranée (Thessaloniki, GR), Roundhouse (London, UK), Officine dell’Immagine Gallery (Milan, IT), St.Petersburgh, Watou Festival (BE), Roundhouse (London, UK), amongst others.

Nicol has also been a guest lecturer at: Central Saint Martins (London), NABA-New Academy of Fine Arts (Rome), Ljósmyndaskólinn (Reykjavík), Paris College of Arts (Paris), Mahal Art Space (Tangier), La Erre (Guatemala City), University of West London (London), Solent University (Southampton), London College of Fashion (London), University of Wolverhampton – School of Arts (Wolverhampton), IED – Istituto Europeo di Design (Rome), ISFCI – Institute of Photography (Rome).
