On Thursday, December 12 at 6:30 p.m. Fabrica presents From Ash to Life, a conversation between Mohammed El Hajoui, Italian-Moroccan artist and former Fabricante, and Jasmine Barri, a photographer and student of Visual Arts at the IUAV University of Venice, of Italian-Palestinian origins.
The starting point of the dialogue will be Ardna, the installation created by El Hajoui in solidarity with the Palestinian people and presented during the 30th anniversary of Fabrica, last July. The work, composed of an olive tree surrounded by a carpet of ash, represents a powerful symbol of hope. Ash, a natural fertilizer, evokes the cycle of rebirth for those who are currently experiencing tragic events.
The event will also include some readings of poems by Mahmoud Darwish, a world-famous Palestinian poet, which will then be shared with the public to create a moment of connection and collective listening.
From Ash to Life is part of Fabrica’s autumn-winter 2024 residency, dedicated to the theme of Ruralism. This session explores the concept of sustainability not only in environmental terms, but also in social and cultural ones, as the ability to imagine an inclusive and peaceful future for the planet and its peoples.
