Deborah Latouche and Damien Poulain

Deborah Latouche and Damien Poulain

Wednesday 22 May at 7pm CEST Deborah Latouche, British creative director and stylist of Caribbean heritage and French artist Damien Poulain, will be at Fabrica to talk about their professional path, started at Fabrica, respectively, in 2000 and 2002.

After years of working within the fashion industry as a stylist and journalist for magazines and companies such as Elle Italia, The Sunday Times and Universal Music, Deborah launched SABIRAH a sustainably conscious, demi couture, modest wear brand in February 2020 at London Fashion Week.

In February 2024 has been invited by Camera Della Moda Nazionale Italiana and Blanc Magazine to Milano to take part in their “Global Movement to uplift underrepresented Brands”.

She has recently interviewed by the BBC and Forbes USA and her collections have been featured numerous times in many high-end publications such as Vogue India, Forbes UK, Elle, Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar, Gulf News and Mojeh.

Damien Poulain is an artist responding to various invitations, engaging with design, architecture, and the built and natural environments. His practice transmutes influences from Shintoist, primitive, and heraldic symbology, as well as contemporary material and digital culture, to propose a universal visual language. Through an evolving range of formats including textile, paint, sculpture, and ephemeral architectural volumes, he devises glyphic systems of geometry and color. These codes raise questions about the ways humans relate to each other, to their surroundings, and to the mystery of existence.
Poulain’s work is nomadic and contextual in nature. His imprint ranges from monumental interventions to small-scale paintings, which he produces in an ongoing series linked to place and time.

In addition to the public spaces that are Poulain’s preferred canvas, his work has been exhibited at solo shows in London at Kemistry Gallery and KK Outlet; in Tokyo at Calm and Punk Gallery and Claska; and group shows at the Museum of Graphic Design in Breda, Holland and 21_21 Museum in Tokyo.

Damien Poulain lives in Paris and works around the world.

Deborah and Damien will hold two workshops for the young Fabrica residents, linked to the theme of sustainability and sensitivity towards the environment.
