Tomas Leach, former Fabricante and now filmmaker and cinematographer, will be at Fabrica on Thursday, July 6 at 11.00am CEST for a conference titled “Excuses for Curiousity”.
A talk about taking the time to be curious. With examples from his own filmography, Tomas explores the pleasure of digging deeper; the nourishment of putting yourself in the presence of people, places and things; and building a career that thrives on being interested.
Tomas Leach studied in the UK before receiving a residency at Fabrica. His first feature length documentary “In No Great Hurry”, about legendary New York photographer Saul Leiter, was released theatrically in 2014, to critical acclaim. His second feature doc, ”The Lure” explored Forrest Fenn’s hidden treasure in the Rocky Mountains, through a fittingly cinematic lens. Executive produced by Errol Morris, “The Lure” was released theatrically in 2017. Alongside these features, Tomas has directed hour-long sports documentaries for Showtime, Religion of Sports and The Olympic Channel. He has also directed commercials for clients such as BMW, Adidas, NASA and Ikea.
Tomas is currently developing his first narrative feature film from his own screenplay, and working an adaptation of James Sturm’s graphic novel “Off Season” with support from Cinereach.
Tomas Leach’s lecture is part of the “Archaism” residency program curated by Carlos Casas.
