Wednesday 13 March at 5pm Txema Salvans, Spanish photographer, and Anna Kulachek, Ukrainian art director, will inaugurate Kinship, Fabrica’s 2024 Spring-Summer residency program, with two lectures open to the public in which they will present their work and and latest projects.
Txema and Anna both started their careers at Fabrica in 1996 and 2012 respectively.
Txema Salvans is a Catalan photographer who alternates his studies in photography with those in biology. In recent years his work has focused on a documentary and essayistic style.
Salvans presents his projects mainly in book format. His first publication “Nice To Meet You” (2005) received the 2015 Photo España award for best photobook, while “The Waiting Game” (2014) was recognized as the best Ibero-American photobook.
Salvans’ work has been published in prestigious international publications, including Le Monde, Suddeustsche Zeitung Magazine, Stern, New York Times, Libération, Wallpaper and El País Semanal.
His projects have recently been exhibited at the Center D’Art Santa Mònica, the Museum of Contemporary Art Hamburg, the Museum fur Photographie Braunschweig and the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Reina Sofía.
Joan Fontcuberta described his work as a “balance between critical thinking and poetic humor”.
Anna Kulachek is a graphic designer, art director, and artist currently based in New York, originally from Donetsk, Ukraine.
Anna has worked with many clients, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), La Triennale di Milano, Nike, Apple, Calvin Klein, Prada, and Valentino.
One of Anna’s most significant achievements is her role as the Art Director at the Strelka Institute of Media, Architecture, and Design. Over the eight years, she spearheaded the visualization of public and education programs, shaping the institute’s visual identity.
The lectures by Txema Salvans and Anna Kulachek are part of the “Kinship” residency program curated by Carlos Casas. Txema and Anna also held two workshops addressed to the young Fabrica residents.
